Day 2: First official day of Space Academy for Teachers

Today was the first official day of Space academy for teachers.

Almost everyone was able to arrive in Huntsville yesterday and we were off to the races this morning.  We met many people who play an important part in the development of this camp to start the morning off.  Following that we heard from Ed Buckbee author of The Real Space Cowboys (I also got a signed copy of the book!)

We had a tour of the facility.

Found this in the gift shop.

Awesome!

These will be used for missions later in the week.

We also heard from the ambassadors and participated in a fun lesson - Stranded on Mars: Can you hear me now?

My team's communication tower! Came in third place!

And listened to another great astronaut speak.

View from space!

This is a drawing of the potential first human to land on Mars.  Who are those people? Our students!

We finished the night off with Media night (Lots of pictures in my space suit!)

Shout out to Pembroke academy's Team Discovery Vex teams!

Christa McAuliffe - You continue to inspire us everyday!
Team Harmony!

A special shout out to my 8th graders for their recognition night tonight! May you take advantage of ever opportunity and continue to inspire others! Best of luck at Pembroke Academy!

  1. Wow! What a fantastic opportunity for you and your future students. We visited Huntsville a couple of years ago and loved it.
